What is meant by the term “screen resolution”
On the surface of the TV screen there are densely adjacent to each other colored points – pixels (pixel, pel), forming an image. Their number on the screen is called resolution. This indicator consists of two digits, for example, 2560×1440. So, each frame of video content is formed from 1440 rows of 2560 pel., and in total, about 3.7 million pixels (3.7 mpel) are involved in the creation of the image.
Another characteristic of digital technology is directly related to resolution – pixel density (ppi) – the number of color dots per inch of matrix. The higher it is, the more detailed the video content will be. For example, if you compare two TVs with pixel density of 150 and 300 ppi, the second will create a more detailed image.
Therefore, when renting digital equipment should pay attention to the ppi parameter. High index guarantees that the picture will not disintegrate into squares – pixels even when viewing the image from a close distance.
If the characteristics of the equipment does not have data on pixel density, ppi can be determined independently. To do this, you need to determine the number of pixels by multiplying two resolution indicators and divide the result by the diagonal size.
But the ppi is not unlimited, there is a concept of retina – the maximum pixel density recognizable to the human eye. It is believed that the ceiling of 300 ppi is pointless to overcome. The viewer will simply not notice the difference. Sometimes manufacturers for commercial purposes try to overestimate retina, but this is a banal marketing move, so we do not offer customers such TV equipment.
What the screen resolution affects

With this indicator is directly related to the detail of video content. The higher the resolution, the more tiny elements can be seen on the TV screen. For example, on digital equipment with a resolution of 3840×2160 video content will look clearer compared to a model of the same size, but with parameters 1920×1080. This technical characteristic is only responsible for detail. Brightness and contrast are provided by other elements of digital equipment – matrix and backlight.
From the resolution of the screen directly depends on the cost of renting a TV. The higher it is, the more you will have to pay for daily and long-term rental.
The types of screen resolution
Manufacturers of digital equipment produce products with different resolution parameters and this technical characteristic is constantly improving. Let’s dwell on the most popular options and consider the prospects of the most “fresh” options.
Resolution HD

Marking digital video equipment HD (high definition), translates as “high resolution”, although on such a TV screen less than a million pixels 1280×720 pel. Just the name was fixed in the early XX century, when this format was considered revolutionary.
The first HD-TV broadcasting took place in 1998 in the United States, and in 2007, 27 million high definition TV sets were already sold. Some channels are still broadcasting in the HD TV format, so TV sets with such technical characteristics are also in demand. These are small-sized models, on the screens of which the image with the parameters of 1280×720 pixels looks decent.
Full HD resolution
Full HD (full high definition) – an improved modification of HD, denoted as HD Ready and FHD or 1080p. The number of pixels on the screen – 1920×1080. The term was coined by Sony specialists, who decided that their technology should be different from the previous generation of HD-devices.
Full HD technology appeared in 2005 and it was immediately adopted by manufacturers of smartphones, video projectors and other electronics. The technical solution was successful – many TV channels still broadcast in Full HD video format, and the Internet has numerous videos with a resolution of 1920 by 1080. Therefore, Full HD TV equipment is still popular. It is eagerly rented for home events and larger celebrations.
2k TVs are called little-distributed models with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 or Quad HD. This format did not last long – electronics manufacturers switched to 4K and stopped producing TVs. Sometimes the 2K format includes models with a resolution of 2560 by 1600 (WQXGA), more common in computer monitors. TVs with such video parameters are extremely rare, so we do not offer them.
Ultra HD is the most popular digital format, valued for its high detail, which is twice as high as the previous generation. The picture on such TV screens is clear, smooth, allowing you to see even the smallest details. Even very large Ultra HD screens do not break into pixel cells up close. This is the optimal option for viewing any video content, the screen can display images from TV channels that have switched to broadcasting in the 4K format.
Now there are TVs with a resolution of 8K – 7680×4320 pixels, but it is not reasonable to rent such equipment. Video content of 8K format is represented in the network by single clips, there is no TV broadcasting with such characteristics, so 4K is enough for now.
Which screen resolution is better
When choosing this parameter, you need to start from the size of the TV screen and the purpose of the equipment:
- Full HD is enough for a small TV with a diagonal up to 43 inches, especially if you do not plan to look at it point-blank or use it as a monitor for a computer game with pixel-hunting. This technique is optimal for watching TV programs – digital TV has a resolution of 720×576 and 1920×1080, and only a few channels broadcast in 4K.

- If the event requires a TV with a diagonal of more than 43 inches, and especially – more than 55 inches, you need a 4K model. On such digital equipment, even up close, the picture looks very attractive. Therefore, all the proposed large-size TVs have a video format 4K.
