What is the difference between an LCD video wall and an LED video wall?

Manufacturers of LCD walls and LED LED screens are constantly competing, improving the performance of the equipment and reducing the cost, making this technique more and more advanced and at the same time affordable for users. And today it is unclear to many people in whose direction to make a choice, because not everyone is clear about the comparative pros and cons of each option. Let’s try to understand these issues, so that it will help to decide on the choice in situations where you need to let a high-quality video image to the masses.

Main differences between LCD and LED technology

While video walls are a set of several screens with noticeable seams between the blocks, LED is always a single monitor. Therefore, the first option is more appropriate if you need to broadcast several different stories on one plane (although this equipment allows you to let and one large image). And LED screen is better suited in cases where it is very important that the picture was integral and not broken into blocks, that is, that nothing interfered with the perception of every detail of the video.

Another important difference is the saturation and contrast of colors. LED technology allows you to broadcast a color picture as bright as possible. If you put LCD video wall next to it, it will show noticeably faded and blurred color reproduction in comparison.

Special features of LCD video walls

Set panels for video walls began to gain popularity when their advantages were appreciated in situation centers – it is in such conditions is very appropriate to split the frames into different subjects. Initially, due to low image saturation, these devices were used only in rooms where no sunlight falls on the surface. But gradually manufacturers began to increase the resolution, narrow the frame between the blocks, reduce the cost of technology – and it began to confidently compete with LED monitors.

Now video walls are increasingly increasing in size, and the resolution reaches 7680×4320 px, you can broadcast the latest formats up to 8K. However, the cost of this solution is still as high compared to LCD, and it still leads the indoor sector.

Features of LCD screens

Today, seamless LCD screens have become very thin and flexible, attached to a vertical surface magnetically. They can be of any shape and size, including concave and convex. And all this, against the background of extremely high resolution regardless of lighting, together with unlimited use outdoors – makes this equipment more popular than set walls. It proves to be ultra-efficient in a wide range of applications – from live concert broadcasting to business presentations at an industry exhibition.
